Traffic & Parking 2016

For more information contact transport @ widecombe fair

We have in place a tried and tested system of traffic controls designed to minimise congestion, help the disabled and keep pedestrians safe.
Please help us by following the signs, stewards instructions and above all the traffic restrictions – it will also help you and the other visitors.
There will  be a Police presence throughout the day to assist with enforcement.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Since 2011 we introduced an easier parking system. While there is a charge for parking (see below for rates) there is FREE entry into every part of the Fair. The main car parks have a Park and Ride system at no extra cost. This saves money for all multi occupancy cars – so be green – bring a friend! It has also helped to minimise traffic congestion and queues.

2016 sees the system continue.

DISABLED car parking is provided next to the Fair Field at Great Close (P1). See Disabled Access for more information.

4 x 4s use the car park on Southcombe Hill (P2)

CARS – most cars will use the main car park at Holwell (P3). For cars approaching from the north, is parking at Lower Southcome (P6) and at Dockwell (P5).

COACHES – must approach from Bovey Tracey direction. Coach parking is available at the Village centre (P4). If the coach park is full, coaches can drop off/pick up at the coach park at no charge.

All you need to do is follow the signs which are posted on every approach route and at key junctions staff will be present to help you. The Park and Ride operates from car parks P3 and P5. (Other car parks shown on the map will be held in reserve & are not normally accessible).

Parking Charges: (includes Park and Ride where appropriate)

Cars : £20 per car

Go Green – We are offering a discounted price of £10 for single occupancy cars but we would prefer you to fill your cars with family and friends – at £20 for a car, driver and up to six passengers it is a big saving to you and helps the environment by reducing pollution and congestion. Note: Park and Ride transport is only available to those passengers recorded on the car parking ticket. If you have more than a driver and six passengers, the minibus charge applies.

Minibus : £30

Motor cycles : £5

Coaches : £30

(No other fees to pay – FREE ENTRY to the Fair Field and Village for all)

The Last Park and Ride Bus leaves at 7.00pm but by then free village parking is accessible if you want to stay on at the Fair.

EXHIBITORS Each entrant, exhibitor and trade stand holder is entitled to a pass for one vehicle only – further vehicles will need to pay the appropriate car parking charge. See terms and conditions.

Finally – BLUE BADGE HOLDERS. Please use the disabled car park at Great Close (P1). We will try to accommodate you at other car parks but the most convenient location is at Great Close. Your help with this will be of great benefit both to you and to our traffic staff.
